Led by its Ambassador Ricardo Núñez, the Embassy of Chile in Mexico delivered food today to rescuers, police officers and volunteers working in collection centres and areas affected by the 7.1 earthquake that struck Mexico City, Puebla and Morelos on Tuesday, September 19.
The officials of the Embassy arrived at the intersection of Chapultepec and Salamanca in the Colonia Roma Norte, carrying boxes of empanadas, choripanes and non-perishable snacks. The former were distributed on site to those working in the area, while non-perishable food was loaded into a vehicle that would take them to other remote affected areas.
The Chilean Embassy in Mexico City was to hold the celebration of its National Day on Thursday, May 21, an event that was cancelled after the earthquake, resolving to donate the food to those who most need it in the midst of the complicated situation in the Mexican capital.
