The Government of Chile reiterates its condemnation of the recent launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Tuesday, 28 November. Chile reaffirms its rejection of this new act, which constitutes a clear violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions.

Chile reiterates its strong appeal to the DPRK to heed the calls of the international community to halt the development of intercontinental ballistic missiles and resume the hexapartite dialogue, with a view to reducing tension on the Korean peninsula.

Our country also urges the North Korean authorities to submit their facilities to the safeguards inspections of the International Atomic Energy Agency and to regulate their nuclear-weapon-free status in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
