Alejandro Marisio will be Chile's new Ambassador in Canada

Foreign Minister Heraldo Muñoz informed that the President of the Republic, Michelle Bachelet, appointed Ambassador Alejandro Marisio as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Chile in Canada, country that has already given its approval.

Ambassador Marisio is a Commercial Engineer from the University of Concepción and graduated from the Diplomatic Academy.

Abroad, he has worked at the Embassy of Chile in Peru and as Consul General of Chile in Lima. He also served at the Embassy of Chile in the United States, assuming relations with the House of Representatives during the approval process of the FTA with that country. He was Secretary in the Mission of our country to ALADI and Alternate Representative in Uruguay; and Consul of Chile and Secretary, in the Consulate and Embassy of Chile to the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he has worked in the General Directorate of Consular Affairs and Immigration; in the Directorate of Special Policy; in the General Directorate of Economic Affairs; in the Directorate of South America; in the General Directorate of Foreign Policy; and in the Undersecretariat of Foreign Affairs, as advisor to the Undersecretary for Economic Affairs.

In April 2014, the President of the Republic appointed him Ambassador and became Director General of Consular and Immigration Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, a position he has held to date.
